The Contributions of Lindsay Rosenwald In Biotechnology

Lindsay Rosenwald is a Wall Street biotechnology entrepreneur, the founder and chairman of a conglomerate group that deals with investment in healthcare and pharmaceutical development and contains many companies working in different areas such as biotechnologies, finance and research. He graduated from Abington Senior High School in 1973 after which he went on and majored in Finance and Economy at the Pennsylvania State University in 1977.

He then worked for two years as a successful management consultant in health care for different companies until he entered the School of Medicine at Temple University, from which he graduated four years later. Taking an internship at Abington Medical Hospital, he practiced medicine until 1986. Even though he was considered a very skilled medical doctor, he chose a career that combined his two professions: medical science and business. Since then, he played a key role in many breakthroughs in the medical world.

Being a member of Orion Biomedical Fund and Orion Biomedical Offshore, the contributions of doctor Lindsay Rosenwald to the industry of biotechnology and medical research are highly praised. With many years of experience in these domains, he is known to have changed the world of biotechnology by financing many new research labs that could not have survived on the market without his and his companies’ help. He is also a renowned philanthropist and has founded Rosenwald Foundation, a non-profit organization that has donated millions of dollars to different education institutes and to other components of the scientific community.

The selling of Cougar Biotechnology by Lindsay Rosenwald to Johnson and Johnson was considered the best deal in the biotechnology field, a deal of almost one billion dollars. His group of companies also holds the record for the fastest approval of a new, highly efficient drug by the Food and Drug Administration, Arsenic Trioxide, as it needed only thirty months of clinical trial.  This drug can be used for the treatment of a deadly form of leukemia and since its approval; it has saved more than a thousand lives.

Lindsay Rosenwald is the perfect counterexample to the old belief that doctors cannot become good financial investors. He is praised in the world of financial and medical research and is considered a visionary with more than 20 years of experience. His passion for medicine and biotechnology has attracted funds to these somehow expensive fields and has generated many breakthroughs that will help the entire world in the coming years.
