Preparing for Laser Eye Surgery
Congratulations on being a good candidate for laser eye surgery. Soon you will be able to see clearly without glasses or contacts and your life will be much improved in many ways To make the operation less stressful, you should have discussed what to expect before, during and after the surgery at your consultation at the clinic where your surgery will be done.
Laser eye surgery is a quick procedure. You will be given a local anesthetic and remain awake. Your vision will be blurred throughout the operation. Your eyelids will be held open for you so you don’t have to worry about that aspect. Some people see clearly when they wake up the next morning after surgery but 48 hours until your vision returns is normal. Some patients encounter a pain on their eye shortly after the surgery, ask your surgeon what is normal and what may signal a problem.
You will naturally need to bring a friend with you to drive you home after your surgery. You probably will be advised not to drive for at least a week so make sure you make arrangements to have transportation for an entire week. You may also be advised to take off from work, be sure to ask your surgeon when you will be able to return barring any complications.
